Denise Bogues is the editor of CWB's Course Workbook for AP® Statistics.
Denise retired from teaching after 38 years. She taught most of her career at the high school and college levels. She currently works as a math tutor and writes math curriculum for various math courses. She recently wrote the Statistics curriculum that is currently used by the district of Hartland, MI.
She has a B.S. in General Science and Mathematics from Michigan State University (MSU) and a M.A. in Teaching Science from Wayne State University (WSU). She also has 30+ credits in post-master’s courses with a specialty in Teaching with Technology from Laverne University.
Her college-level instructional experience includes teaching math at Detroit College of Business (now Davenport University). She has taught high school math and science courses in the public schools with a specialty in AP Statistics for her last 13 years of teaching.
Her administrative experience includes serving as the Faculty Coordinator at Detroit College of Business. She oversaw scheduling and the evaluation of instructors at a satellite campus for several years.
She has taught a variety of math courses including integrated mathematics, algebra (all levels), geometry, probability, trigonometry, pre-calculus, statistics and AP Statistics. She has also taught several science courses such as biology, chemistry, physics, and general science. Her interest in both math and science explains why statistics is her favorite topic.
She owns and operates a math tutoring business. She and her husband also owned and operated a successful coffee shop franchise (BIGGBY Coffee) for 10 years. They recently sold this business so they could focus on a slower lifestyle as they approach retirement age.
Denise and her husband Mike enjoy lake living in Brighton, MI. Her hobbies include traveling, spending time with family, boating, and swimming. They have two adult children. Their son, Adam, and daughter-in-law, Jackie, live in Cedar Springs, MI. Their daughter, Rachel, and son-in- law, Zach, live in Chicago IL.
